The yankees announced today that they agreed to terms with righty’s Joba Chamberlain and David Robertson, avoiding arbatration for both, with each earning 1.675 mill and 1.6 mill respectively.
Another huge tie up for the yankees, perfecting their bullpen, which was one of their greatest strengths in 2011. Robertson (who recieved Cy Young votes this year, …what?) is a key peice to the yankees pen, with great potential to be a steller setup man for Soriano when Mo retieres, or even a upper end closer when all is said and done. But for 2012, he will be given the 8th inning, an underrated spot that when solidified shortens the game even more for the yankees with Soriano and Rivera in the 8th and 9th.
Joba, recovering from Tommy John Surgery in 2011, looks to be on track for a return in 2012. Signing him gives the 7th inning spot, again making the game that much shorter, and gives them a great double barrel action when paired with Boone Logan. With a realistic date of June or early July for a return, this sign looks very hopeful for the Yankees that are going in more of a pitching direction this year.
Both great sign for the Yanks, staying cheap, but keeping good, powerful arms in the bullpen. I lovelovelovelovelove it
